What the Powerwall 3 actually is
The Powerwall 3 is a 13.5 kWh home battery that uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, a chemistry chosen for its long life and safety. Its defining feature is an integrated solar inverter. Most home batteries need a separate inverter to connect to your panels, whereas the Powerwall 3 combines the battery and the inverter in one unit, which can make for a tidier, simpler install.

Bigger is not better if the extra capacity sits part-used, so the honest answer for a low-usage home is often a smaller battery.
The Tesla-certified installer requirement
The Powerwall 3 must be installed by a Tesla-certified installer. This is separate from MCS certification, and not every MCS-certified solar installer holds it. It is worth checking that an installer is Tesla-certified before you commit to a Powerwall, otherwise they cannot fit one and may steer you to a different battery.
Warranty
The Powerwall 3 comes with a 10-year warranty that guarantees it will retain at least 70% of its capacity over that period. In other words, after ten years it should still hold at least seven tenths of its original charge. That is in line with the better home batteries on the market.
