Privacy policy

Last updated 1 July 2026

This policy explains how Skyward Solar collects, uses and shares your personal data when you use this website and our quote service, and the rights you have over that data. Please read it alongside our terms of use.

Skyward Solar (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a trading name of Apex Waste Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17025745), with its registered office at 37 Bull Street, Holt, England, NR25 6HP. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

1. The information we collect

We collect the following personal data:

  • Information you give us through the quote form: your name, phone number, email address and postcode, along with details about your property and energy use (such as property type, roof details, electricity spend and whether you want a battery or EV charger) and the preferences and consents you provide.
  • Information collected automatically when you browse: device and usage data through cookies and similar technologies, where you have consented (see the cookies section).
  • We do not ask for special category data (such as health or financial account details), and you should not send it to us.

2. How we use your information, and our lawful bases

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To produce an indicative solar estimate for your home, using your postcode to look up local generation data. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before any contract, and our legitimate interests in providing the service.
  • To pass your enquiry to one or more MCS-certified installers who cover your area, so they can contact you and provide a quote. Lawful basis: your consent, given when you submit the quote form.
  • To respond to you and manage your enquiry. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • To send you marketing about solar, only if you have separately opted in, and you can withdraw at any time. Lawful basis: your consent.
  • To measure and improve the website through analytics and advertising tools, where you have consented. Lawful basis: your consent.
  • To prevent spam and fraud and to meet our legal obligations. Lawful basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.

3. Sharing your information with installers

When you request a quote and give your consent, we share the details from your enquiry with one or more MCS-certified installers who cover your area, so they can contact you and provide a quote. This is central to how the service works, and it only happens when you have asked for a quote and consented.

Those installers are independent businesses. They act as separate data controllers for how they use your details once we have shared them, and we encourage you to read their own privacy policies. If you would prefer we did not share your details, do not submit the quote form, or contact us to withdraw your consent.

4. Other parties we share information with

We also use trusted service providers who process personal data on our behalf:

  • Hosting and delivery of this website (our hosting provider).
  • Email delivery of enquiry notifications (our email provider).
  • Website analytics and advertising measurement (Google), where you have consented.
  • Content management for the website (our CMS provider).
  • To generate an estimate, your postcode is sent to a third-party location service to look up its approximate coordinates, and those coordinates are then sent to a third-party solar-generation data service. Neither request includes your name or contact details.
  • We may disclose personal data where required by law, regulation or legal process.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers may process personal data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as a UK adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses, so your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterwards, currently 24 months, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the tools we use. Where our lawful basis is consent, we stop the relevant processing if you withdraw it.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time where consent is our lawful basis. To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@skywardsolar.co.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site to work, and, where you consent, analytics and advertising cookies (through Google tools) that help us understand usage and measure campaigns. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through our cookie banner, and change your choice at any time.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and significant changes will be made clear on this page.
